KKR Looks to Retain 13 Players Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction

Although the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season is still some time away, the excitement is already building as franchises prepare for the auction. The IPL 2026 auction is scheduled to be held in India from December 13 to 16. Ahead of that, all teams are required to announce their player retention lists by November 15. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), owned by Shah Rukh Khan, are busy shaping their squad for the upcoming season.

    নিলামের আগে এই ১৩ ক্রিকেটারকে রেখে ঘর গোছাবে শাহরুখের ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি!

KKR Wants a Fresh Start After a Disappointing Season

KKR had a disappointing 18th IPL season. Even after appointing Ajinkya Rahane as captain, the team could not meet expectations, finishing last in the points table. Analysts believe the team struggled to adapt to Rahane’s leadership and strategies. Now, KKR management is looking to start fresh and restructure the team for a stronger comeback.

    Key Retentions

According to reports from CricBuzz and SportsYear, KKR plans to retain its mainstays, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. The management has no plans to release the two Caribbean stars, who have been pillars of KKR’s success for years and remain central to the team’s strategy for the new season.

    Other Likely Retentions

Sources suggest that, in addition to Russell and Narine, the following players may also feature in KKR’s retention list:

Varun Chakravarthy, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, Ramandeep Singh, Angkrish Raghuwanshi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Rovman Powell, Vaibhav Arora, Spencer Johnson, Mayank Markande, Ajinkya Rahane

However, there is some uncertainty about whether Rahane will continue as captain. While he may remain in the squad, his leadership role could be reassessed.

    Players Likely to Be Released

On the other hand, KKR may release a few big-name players before IPL 2026 to free up budget for the auction. Players reportedly at risk of being released include:

Venkatesh Iyer (₹23.75 crore), Moeen Ali, Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Anukul Roy

KKR management wants to retain flexibility in the budget to rebuild the squad strategically.

    Budget Ahead of Auction

Reports suggest KKR will have a total budget of around ₹125 crore for the auction. After the retention period, the team may have ₹53–58 crore left to spend on new players. Combining the experience of Russell and Narine with the youth of Rinku Singh and Varun Chakravarthy, KKR aims to build a stronger, balanced team ahead of IPL 2026.

  • New Sporting Landmark ‘Grand’ Gift for World Champion Richa from Mamata Banerjee

New Sporting Landmark ‘Grand’ Gift for World Champion Richa from Mamata Banerjee

A new chapter is about to be added to North Bengal’s sporting map. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that a state-of-the-art stadium will be built in honour of Richa Ghosh, India’s world champion cricketer from Siliguri. The announcement was made on Monday during an administrative meeting at Uttarkanya, Siliguri.

    বিশ্বজয়ী রিচার জন্য উত্তরবঙ্গকে ‘বিরাট’ উপহার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর

The modern sports complex will be constructed on 27 acres of land at Chandmoni Tea Estate. The Richa Ghosh Stadium, to be built under the initiative of the state government, is expected to become a milestone in the sports infrastructure of North Bengal, experts say.

On November 2, in Mumbai, the Indian women’s cricket team created history by winning the World Cup for the first time, defeating South Africa under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. One of the key members of that victorious squad was Siliguri’s own Richa Ghosh. Her outstanding performance captured the nation’s attention and filled Bengal with pride.

Following that triumph, the state government had already felicitated Richa at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The Chief Minister herself was present at the ceremony, where Richa was honoured with the ‘Banga Bhushan’ award and was also appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the West Bengal Police.

At Monday’s meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “There is no shortage of talent in North Bengal — only a shortage of opportunity. Just as Richa has made us proud by conquering the world, we want many more Richas to emerge from North Bengal. That is the purpose behind this decision.”

The new stadium will be built near Siliguri City Centre, in the Chandmoni Township area, where an industrial hub is already developing. The proposed complex will feature an international-standard pitch, practice arenas, indoor nets, an academy, and training facilities.

The announcement has sparked celebrations across the sports fraternity of North Bengal. Richa Ghosh and her family have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister. Richa’s father said, “This is not just our family’s pride, but a proud moment for all of North Bengal. We are deeply grateful to the Chief Minister.”

IPL 2026 : Possible Trade Deal Between CSK and Rajasthan Royals

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the excitement around player trades is at its peak. By November 15, every franchise must submit its list of retained and released players. Even before those lists are out, intense discussions have begun between teams over player swaps — and at the center of all the drama is Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson.

Chennai Super Kings Keen on Signing Sanju

According to reports, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been in serious talks with Rajasthan Royals to acquire Sanju Samson. Rajasthan, too, is reportedly open to releasing their skipper — but with one major condition: CSK must trade both Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran in return.

Sources suggest that CSK initially showed interest in this deal but later clarified that no move would be made without Jadeja’s consent, as the all-rounder remains a vital part of their setup.

Rajasthan’s New Demand: Not Curran, But Pathirana!

The situation has since changed dramatically. Latest reports indicate that Rajasthan Royals have modified their offer, now demanding Sri Lankan pacer Matheesa Pathirana along with Jadeja, instead of Sam Curran.

However, Chennai is reluctant to accept this condition. After internal discussions between captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, coach Stephen Fleming, and mentor MS Dhoni, CSK has made it clear: “We can talk about Jadeja, but Pathirana — our future star — is absolutely untouchable.”

Delhi Capitals Were Also in the Race

Earlier, Delhi Capitals had also shown interest in Sanju Samson. They reportedly offered Tristan Stubbs to Rajasthan, but the Royals demanded young Indian batter Sameer Rizvi as well. Delhi refused, and the deal fell through.

At present, Rajasthan and Chennai remain the only two teams actively discussing a potential Sanju Samson trade.

It’s worth noting that Ravindra Jadeja began his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals, even winning the inaugural season with them. Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has spent over 11 years with Rajasthan, leading the team in recent seasons. After the previous IPL season, Sanju had hinted that “it might be time for a change.”

Now, with Rajasthan unwilling to compromise on their new demand and Chennai refusing to give up Pathirana, Sanju’s future remains uncertain. All eyes are on November 15, when the retention lists will finally reveal whether Sanju stays with Rajasthan or dons yellow for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026.

  • Uncertainty Over ISL Worries FC Goa’s Borja Herrera

Uncertainty Over ISL Worries FC Goa’s Borja Herrera

Since the start of this season, there has been uncertainty surrounding the Indian Super League (ISL). Although the FSDL has been in charge of the country’s top-division league for the past ten years, they have been largely inactive this season. However, there were hopes that perhaps a new organization might take over the responsibility this time. Accordingly, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had initially set the deadline for submitting bids as November 5. Later, following multiple requests from different organizations, the federation’s tender committee extended the deadline to November 7.

    আইএসএল নিয়ে ধোঁয়াশা, আশঙ্কায় বোরহা হেরেরা

It was expected that either the FSDL or some other organization might submit a bid, but that did not happen. As a result, the future of India’s top-division league currently remains in deep uncertainty. Notably, since last Friday, Mohun Bagan Super Giant announced that they would suspend team training indefinitely. Additionally, several other top-division clubs have become largely inactive in forming their squads, causing widespread concern.

Amid this, Spanish star Borja Herrera has publicly expressed his concern on social media. Sharing several photos of himself playing in the FC Goa jersey, he wrote, “In the absence of the ISL (it seems the situation is getting worse every day), we are still enjoying the Champions League even after defeats.” His comments have drawn significant attention from fans.

Recently, FC Goa played the second leg of the ACL 2 against Al Nassr, where they faced a heavy defeat against João Félix’s side. Despite limited resources, their fighting spirit caught the attention of football enthusiasts. Maintaining continuity in international tournaments, the team also aims to target the Super Cup victory under the guidance of Manolo Márquez.

  • In Deep Darkness of ISL, Explosive Statement by Souvik on Social Media!

In Deep Darkness of ISL, Explosive Statement by Souvik on Social Media!

The future of India’s top football league, the Indian Super League (ISL), remains uncertain. Although Friday was the last day to submit bids, no organization participated in the tender. As a result, the fate of the ISL now hangs on the federation’s decision.

    গভীর অন্ধকারে ISL, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় ‘বিস্ফোরক’ লাল-হলুদ সৌভিক!

According to an earlier announcement, the deadline for bid submission was set for November 5. However, following requests from multiple organizations, the federation’s tender committee extended the deadline to November 7. Many had hoped that FSDA or another organization might submit a bid, but with no activity on Friday either, widespread concern emerged. Consequently, there is now significant uncertainty about whether the Indian Super League will take place this year.

In this situation, one of the country’s strongest football clubs, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, has decided to suspend team training indefinitely. Meanwhile, East Bengal’s president Debashish Dutta and secretary Srijanjoy Basu expressed their frustration over the ISL. The pressing question now is: will the ISL happen, and if so, when? Experts believe that if no organization takes responsibility by the end of November, it will be nearly impossible to start the league before late January or February. The federation’s next decision will determine the fate of India’s biggest football league.

In the midst of this issue, East Bengal player and Bengali footballer Souvik Chakraborty shared his views on social media. He wrote: “The failure of the ISL bid is not just a business failure. For me, it reflects the deep-rooted problems in Indian football administration. This is not just about a league. When the top tier of Indian football is uncertain, it impacts everyone—from grassroots children to the national level. Behind every club and match are players, coaches, support staff, countless fans, and those who work quietly off the field to keep the game alive. Their dedicated efforts deserve clear direction, accountability, and faith in the system that asks them to give their all.

What we need now is transparency, planning, and unity. Every participant, from players and professionals to fans and those working inside and outside the field, deserves a framework that values their love for the game and helps move football forward. I truly hope this issue is resolved as soon as possible—not just for the top level, but for the future of Indian football. For the love of Indian football.”

Lakshan Dongari, Assistant Director of SAI Kolkata, said, “Cycling isn’t just for athletes; it’s essential for everyone to stay fit. That’s why we’ve organized this Cyclothon. The response has been fantastic, and we hope to make this an annual event.”

Race Director and IPS officer Krishna Prakash stated, “Cycling is not just an exercise—it’s an important solution to many of our environmental and social problems. It helps reduce carbon footprints, eases traffic congestion, solves parking issues, and improves public health. In urban areas where cycling has declined, our goal is to bring people back to the joy of cycling.”

Rakesh Das, a participant in the 70 km race, shared, “An event like this has never happened in Kolkata before. Bringing the whole city together through cycling is a remarkable initiative. I hope more categories will be added in the future and that cycling will become even more popular here.”

Meanwhile, Kavya Gupta, who is competing in the 25 km race, said, “Such initiatives are much needed in Kolkata. Today’s generation needs to step away from screens and come out onto the field. In other countries, people take pride in using bicycles—India too needs to embrace that awareness.”

  • India vs Pakistan : India Edge Pakistan by 2 Runs in Rain-Hit

India vs Pakistan : India Edge Pakistan by 2 Runs in Rain-Hit

In a rain-affected clash at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, India put up a brilliant fight to defeat Pakistan by just two runs.

The match on Friday began with India’s batting. In only 6 overs, India scored 86 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Robin Uthappa led the charge with a quickfire 28 off just 11 balls, giving India a strong start. Dinesh Karthik also delivered a spectacular performance toward the end, scoring 17 runs off 6 balls to push the team to a competitive total. Stuart Binny’s bowling was also crucial, conceding only 7 runs and taking 1 wicket.

    ২২ গজের মহারণে ফের পাক বধের পর ‘করমর্দনে’ না ভারতের

Pakistan’s innings were curtailed to 3 overs due to rain. Their target was set at 44 runs, but the Abbas Afridi-led side could only manage 41 for 1. According to the DLS method, Pakistan fell short by 2 runs, and India was declared the winner.

India’s team in this tournament included retired players such as Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, and Stuart Binny, while Pakistan gave opportunities to young players like Abbas Afridi, Khawaja Nafay, and Abdul Samad. Pakistan’s focus on emerging talent was part of their preparation for the Emerging Asia Cup.

Some reports noted that there was no handshake between Indian and Pakistani players after the match, following a trend seen in recent India-Pakistan encounters. A player told a national media outlet, “There was no possibility of a handshake. We followed the rules as they were.”

Elsewhere in the tournament, excitement continued:

Pool B: Australia defeated UAE by 10 wickets. Jack Wood scored 55 off just 11 balls.

Pool A: Afghanistan achieved a 49-run victory over South Africa. Gulbadin Naib scored 50 off just 12 balls.

Pool D: Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 14 runs, with Mosaddek Hossain taking 3/20 to secure the win.

  • Sports Minister Announces ‘Big’ News About Calcutta League During Visit to Hockey Stadium

Sports Minister Announces ‘Big’ News About Calcutta League During Visit to Hockey Stadium

The newly built Vivekananda Hockey Stadium was officially inaugurated on Thursday from the stage of the International Film Festival. On Friday, West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas visited the state-of-the-art facility. During his visit, he not only inspected the new venue but also took up a hockey stick and hit a few shots himself. Along with reviewing the stadium, he shared some good news for football fans regarding the Calcutta Football League.

    হকি স্টেডিয়াম পরিদর্শনে এসে কলকাতা লিগ নিয়ে ‘বিরাট’ সুখবর দিলেন ক্রীড়ামন্ত্রী

Built under the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the stadium features international-standard synthetic turf. It also includes an Australian-style modern Arden gallery, dedicated warm-up zone, two fully equipped dressing rooms, VIP and VVIP boxes, VIP lounge, umpire and video umpire rooms, and several other modern facilities. Additionally, it houses a doping control and medical room, mixed zone, broadcast and video analysis center, venue operations center, and press corner. The stadium was constructed at a cost of around ₹20,000 crore, making it one of the most advanced sports arenas in the state.

After touring the stadium, Aroop Biswas said, “Under the Chief Minister’s initiative, two hockey grounds have been built in our state — one in Dumurjala and another within the Salt Lake Stadium complex. We also plan to set up a hockey academy in the future. This is one of the best stadiums in the country. I hope that international matches of the Indian team will be held here soon.”

However, the minister did not shy away from speaking about Bengal’s sports-related discrimination. In a pointed remark, he said, “Matches are not allotted to Bengal due to political reasons. But the more Bengal is deprived, the stronger we will rise.”

The Beton Cup is set to begin at this very venue on Saturday. This year, hockey tournaments will not use the East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, or Mohammedan grounds. The minister said, “This year, we are organizing hockey tournaments without using the three major clubs’ grounds. Our discussions are ongoing, and our goal is to bring Calcutta football back to the city’s own fields.”

Aroop Biswas further added, “From the next season, the Calcutta Football League matches will be played in Kolkata grounds itself. The spirit of the game will return from the districts to the heart of the city.”

With the inauguration of this new hockey stadium, a new chapter has been added to West Bengal’s sports landscape. Through the efforts of the Chief Minister and the Sports Department, this stadium not only represents international sporting infrastructure but also stands as a symbol of Bengal’s sporting renaissance.
