  • East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon Weighs Defensive Options Ahead of Semifinal

East Bengal coach Oscar Bruzon Weighs Defensive Options Ahead of Semifinal

East Bengal Football Club did not have a great start to this year’s Super Cup. In their very first group-stage match, they were held to a draw by a comparatively weaker Dempo Sports Club. Sameer Naik’s boys put up an exceptional fight against the Red and Golds, surprising everyone. Because of that early setback, the Kolkata giants fell slightly behind in the group standings. However, after defeating Clifford Miranda’s Chennaiyin FC by a big margin in the second match, the Torch Brigade revived their chances of qualifying for the knockouts. In the final group game, they had to face their arch-rivals, Mohun Bagan Super Giant.

Although that match ended in a draw after full time, East Bengal advanced to the semifinals thanks to goal difference. Naturally, supporters were quite pleased. After a long break, the semifinals are finally scheduled to be held tomorrow, where Oscar Bruzón’s side will face Panagiotis Dilmpeleris’ Punjab FC. Punjab had already stunned a strong team like Bengaluru FC earlier to secure their semifinal berth, so everyone knows this will be no easy contest.

That is why players like Miguel Figuera and Anwar Ali had begun intense training weeks in advance. But just a few days before the semifinal, worrying news emerged—reliable defender Joy Gupta picked up an injury during practice. He was seen mostly on the sidelines afterward. Oscar is fully aware of how much Joy’s absence in such a crucial match could benefit the opposition, so he had already begun preparing alternative plans.

According to various reports, if Joy Gupta is unable to play this match, Oscar Bruzón may turn to another Indian defender, Lalchungnunga, as his replacement. Additionally, Bengali footballer Prabhat Lakra is also being considered as an option. However, in Wednesday’s training session ahead of the semifinal, Joy Gupta looked quite lively. If everything goes well, East Bengal’s head coach might go ahead with his original plan and include him in the starting lineup.

  • IPL 2026 Auction: KKR Might Target star Australian Cricketer

IPL 2026 Auction: KKR Might Target star Australian Cricketer

Ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have retained the highest amount of funds among all franchises. Shah Rukh Khan’s team currently has ₹64.3 crore at their disposal. The management’s focus this time is on “spending the right amount on the right player,” learning from past mistakes such as the ₹23.75 crore spent on Venkatesh Iyer. KKR now plans to invest more cautiously and is scouting for quality players at lower prices.

    Maxwell Could Be KKR’s Target

Last IPL season, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was part of Punjab Kings under Preeti Zinta’s ownership. However, he failed to live up to expectations due to injuries and a dip in form. As a result, Punjab Kings released him from the squad.

According to reports from sources like Khel Now, if Maxwell remains unsold in the upcoming IPL auction, it could put his IPL and international career at risk. KKR sees this as an opportunity. The Kolkata franchise is reportedly considering bringing the experienced Aussie all-rounder into their squad at a bargain price.

    Maxwell’s IPL Career So Far

Glenn Maxwell made his IPL debut in 2012. To date, he has played 141 matches, scoring 2,819 runs and taking 41 crucial wickets. His highest score in the league is 95. However, in the last season, he managed only 48 runs in six innings across seven matches for Punjab. Bought for ₹4.2 crore, Maxwell’s performance last year was disappointing for the PBKS management.

This time, KKR plans to leverage Maxwell’s experience while strengthening their squad’s batting and all-round capabilities. The franchise, however, has not commented publicly on this potential move. IPL fans now eagerly wait to see who will bid for Glenn Maxwell and how KKR shapes their strategy for the upcoming season.

  • IPL 2026: To Boost Batting Strength, KKR Targets This Former Player in Auction!

IPL 2026: To Boost Batting Strength, KKR Targets This Former Player in Auction!

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders are busy rebuilding their squad. Despite winning the 2024 championship, the franchise owned by Shah Rukh Khan has already started planning early to form an even stronger team for the next season. From appointing a new head coach to a new bowling coach, KKR has completed several major recruitments in one go. The retention list released on 15 November also created a stir, as a few familiar faces were released by the franchise.

    ব্যাটিং শক্তি বাড়াতে নিলামে এই প্রাক্তনীকে টার্গেট নাইট শিবিরের!

Amid all this, reports suggest that a former Chennai Super Kings player might return to Kolkata. At the center of speculation is Indian batter Rahul Tripathi.

Released by CSK — Is Rahul Tripathi Set to Return to KKR?

Ahead of the 2026 auction, KKR holds the highest purse amount, and the management aims to spend it wisely by securing an experienced and reliable batsman. According to national media reports, KKR is targeting Rahul Tripathi to bring stability to the top order.

However, Tripathi’s recent form hasn’t been impressive. For Chennai Super Kings in the last IPL, he played only 5 matches and scored just 55 runs. Yet he scored a remarkable 413 runs in 14 matches in the 2022 season—a performance that had put him back into the spotlight.

Despite his current slump, franchises still remember his experience and explosive innings from earlier seasons. If KKR brings him back, the Indian batsman will have to repay that faith by rediscovering his old form.

Rahul & KKR — Will the Old Partnership Return?

Rahul Tripathi began his IPL journey in 2017, scoring 391 runs in his debut season and instantly catching attention. He later played for KKR in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, during which his partnership with Manish Pandey became quite memorable.

This is why Tripathi’s fans are hopeful. They believe KKR might bring back the familiar face because an experienced Indian top-order batsman can be crucial to strengthening the batting lineup for the new season.

Looking Ahead — KKR’s Plans Are Clear

The exclusion of names like Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer from the retention list made it clear that KKR are heading for major changes. Ensuring consistency in batting is now their top priority. If Rahul Tripathi returns, he could provide both experience and aggressive batting at the top.

IPL 2026: KKR Targets These Two Stars After Parting Ways with Russell

With the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) approaching, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) management is preparing for a major strategic shift. The team has parted ways with Caribbean star Andre Russell, who was retained for ₹12 crore. This time, the franchise is reportedly looking to target not just one, but possibly two foreign all-rounders in the auction as his replacement.

    রাসলেকে বিদায় জানিয়ে এই দুই তারকাকে টার্গেট শাহরুখের দলের!

For the first time in its 11-year history, KKR has dropped the former West Indies all-rounder from the squad. Earlier, there were rumors that the franchise might bring Russell back at a lower price in the auction, but now the team seems unwilling to take that risk. As three-time defending champions, they appear focused on a fresh approach, making Russell’s return unlikely at this stage.

According to sources, KKR’s attention is now on two key foreign all-rounders. The first is England’s Liam Livingstone, recently left out of the retention list by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Livingstone is known in the IPL as a highly influential all-rounder across opposing teams.

The second target is Australian star Glenn Maxwell, recently released by Punjab Kings. KKR believes that acquiring either Maxwell or Livingstone at a relatively lower auction price could strengthen the team’s balance and overall power.

Although it is not guaranteed that both players will join the squad, sources indicate that KKR will likely try to secure at least one of them. If successful, the move would enhance the team’s all-round capabilities, making the side more versatile and formidable. KKR management has not made any official comments on this plan yet, but cricket circles speculate that it could bring a new dimension to the Kolkata squad.

  • IPL 2026: Franchises Set to Splash Big Bucks on These 6 Stars at the Auction!

IPL 2026: Franchises Set to Splash Big Bucks on These 6 Stars at the Auction!

The 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is gearing up for an exciting mini-auction. The retention phase has already been successfully completed. Now, on December 16, the auction will take place in Abu Dhabi, where teams will bid for players to strengthen their squads.

    নিলামে এই ৬ তারকা জন্য টাকার ঝুলি নিয়ে বসবে সব ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি! তালিকায় দুই KKR প্রাক্তনী

According to multiple media reports, six players are expected to attract the highest spending from IPL franchises. This list includes two former stars of Kolkata Knight Riders.

    1. Cameron Green (Australia)
The all-rounder, dropped by Royal Challengers Bangalore, is likely to see intense bidding in the 2026 auction. Due to his batting and bowling skills, teams like Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Punjab Kings could spend around ₹15 crore to secure him.

    2. Matheesha Pathirana (Sri Lanka)
This 22-year-old pacer has been a significant influence for Sri Lanka. After being released by Chennai Super Kings, IPL teams may compete heavily to acquire him. Experts predict his price could go over ₹15 crore.

    3. Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka)
The spin all-rounder, left out of the retention list, is expected to attract bids from almost all major IPL teams. Kolkata Knight Riders could also be in the running to sign him.

    4. Ravi Bishnoi (India)
The 25-year-old star spinner, released by Lucknow Super Giants, is highly sought after due to his exceptional bowling abilities. However, Lucknow will not retain him.

    5. Shreyas Iyer (India)
The batsman, dropped from Kolkata Knight Riders’ retention list, was valued at ₹23.75 crore. Due to poor performance, he no longer has a place in KKR. Nevertheless, IPL teams could spend a hefty amount to buy him in the auction. If KKR re-signs him at the last moment, it would be a huge surprise.

    6. Andre Russell (Caribbean)
After 11 years, this finisher has been released by KKR. While Kolkata is not looking to retain him, teams like Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings could bid big for him in the auction.

The IPL 2026 auction promises a real cash shower for these six cricketers, as franchises strategically bid to strengthen their squads. For cricket fans, this auction is set to usher in a thrilling new chapter.

  • IPL 2026: To Solve Their Opening Crisis, KKR Targeting These Four Stars!

IPL 2026: To Solve Their Opening Crisis, KKR Targeting These Four Stars!

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the Kolkata Knight Riders have already begun restructuring their squad. Shah Rukh Khan’s franchise is desperate to recreate the magic of the brilliant 2024 championship-winning KKR. From the head coach to assistant and bowling coaches—major changes have already been made. Now the only task left is to build a powerful squad. With that goal in mind, the Knights are searching for a sharp opener alongside a wicketkeeper.

    ওপেনার সংকট মেটাতে এই চার তারকাকে টার্গেট নাইট শিবিরের!

The management has already realized that releasing Phil Salt was a mistake. Salt’s 400+ runs in 2024 had played a crucial role in pushing KKR toward the playoffs. Therefore, this time they want an opener who can change the momentum of the match right in the powerplay alongside Ajinkya Rahane. Sources say KKR will keep a close eye on four well-known names at the auction.

    1. Devon Conway – New Zealand Star Opener

This Kiwi batter has been released by the Chennai Super Kings. Although he scored only 94 runs in four matches in the 2025 season, there is no doubt about his class and experience. As a left-handed opener, Conway is extremely composed in the powerplay. There is strong speculation that KKR will try hard to get him.

    2. Tom Banton – England’s Aggressive Batter

The experienced T20 batter Tom Banton has played 193 matches and scored nearly 4,700 runs. His destructive ability against spin makes him highly appealing. On the Eden Gardens pitch—where spin plays a major role—Banton could be a valuable asset.

    3. Rachin Ravindra – The Young Indo-Kiwi Sensation

Ever since being released by Chennai, interest in Rachin has been growing among multiple franchises. KKR is considering using him as an opener. His explosive starts and all-round abilities could add a new dimension to the team’s combination.

    4. Prithvi Shaw – A Comeback for the Overlooked Talent?

Currently ignored in the Indian team, but his talent still shines bright. Known for his fierce powerplay batting, Prithvi Shaw might be available at a relatively lower price. KKR’s management is expected to keep an eye on him for his Chris Lynn-like aggression and quick run-scoring ability.

IPL 2026: Surprise Captaincy Change! Strong Buzz Inside KKR Camp

Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Kolkata Knight Riders’ failure-filled last season seems to have triggered the beginning of a new chapter. Learning from their setbacks, Shah Rukh Khan–led management has made sweeping changes across the entire setup. From head coach to bowling coach, several new faces have joined the franchise. But the biggest surprise has come from their retention list.

    আচমকাই নেতৃত্বে আসতে পারেন এই ক্রিকেটার! নাইট শিবিরে শুরু জোর জল্পনা

Caribbean superstar Andre Russell, who had been with KKR for 11 long years, has been released. The same fate has met Venkatesh Iyer, who was worth ₹23.75 crore. On the other hand, experienced Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane has been retained. However, whether he will be the captain is still a major question.

According to sources inside the team, the management is not yet convinced about making Rahane the captain. If no major star player arrives from the auction, the captaincy responsibility may go to West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine.

Last season, Narine stepped in as captain a few times when Rahane was unavailable. Not only did he handle the responsibility well, but he also performed brilliantly with both bat and ball whenever he led the side. Having been with KKR for a long time, Narine knows the team’s “DNA” inside-out. Many believe that in the current scenario, there is no one more suitable than him to take over the leadership.

What strengthens this possibility even more is Shah Rukh Khan’s special trust in Narine. So, if Sunil Narine is announced as KKR’s new captain before IPL 2026 begins, it wouldn’t be surprising.

On November 15, KKR released a total of 10 players, including Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell. The franchise now has ₹64.3 crore remaining in their purse. With this, Shah Rukh Khan’s team is ready to make a big impact at the upcoming auction. Intense discussions are underway within the camp about which players to target and who fits into the team’s long-term plans. But amid all this, the biggest talking point remains—who will be the new captain of Kolkata Knight Riders?

  • World Cup Winner Cricketer Joins KKR Before IPL 2026 Auction

World Cup Winner Cricketer Joins KKR Before IPL 2026 Auction

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set for a major revamp ahead of IPL 2026. The franchise has announced that former Australian all-rounder and World Cup winner Shane Watson will join the team as assistant coach.

    নিলামের আগে দলে যোগ বিশ্বজয়ীকাপ তারকার, ঘোষণা নাইট শিবিরের

Watson, who enjoyed a highly successful IPL career with Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, will now take up a key role in KKR’s coaching setup. His appointment comes soon after the franchise named Abhishek Nayar as head coach. The two will work together as KKR aim to bounce back stronger after finishing eighth last season.

The Queensland-born cricketer represented Australia in 59 Tests, 190 ODIs, and 58 T20Is. In the IPL, Watson played for over 12 seasons, scoring four centuries and winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award twice — in 2008 (when Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural title) and again in 2013.

After retiring, he transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach with Delhi Capitals under Ricky Ponting and most recently coaching the San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket (USA). Now, his next stop is Eden Gardens, as part of KKR’s leadership group.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore said, “Shane Watson’s experience and understanding of the T20 format will add great strength to our setup. His insights as both player and coach will be invaluable for the team.”

Watson expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s an incredible honour to be part of a franchise as iconic as Kolkata Knight Riders. I’ve always admired the team’s passion and fan culture. I’m eager to work with the players and coaching staff to bring another title to Kolkata.”

Following last season’s disappointing finish, KKR parted ways with former head coach Chandrakant Pandit. With Nayar and Watson taking charge, the franchise is clearly focused on rebuilding for IPL 2026.

Reports suggest KKR may release several underperforming players from last season — names like Venkatesh Iyer, Anrich Nortje, Moeen Ali, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Spencer Johnson are being discussed. Even Andre Russell’s retention is reportedly under review.

  • Tightened Security for India vs South Africa Match After Red Fort Blast

Tightened Security for India vs South Africa Match After Red Fort Blast

A massive explosion has shaken the national capital. On Monday evening, three consecutive blasts occurred in cars parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Within moments, the fire spread to several nearby vehicles. According to initial reports, at least ten people have been killed and many others injured, three of them critically.

Fire department officials said multiple fire engines rushed to the spot as soon as the incident was reported. It took a long time to bring the blaze under control. The injured were immediately taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. Delhi Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Security Guard (NSG) reached the scene soon after, and forensic teams have already begun their investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been a planned act of sabotage.

A senior fire officer said, “Though the fire has been brought under control, several vehicles were badly damaged due to the intensity of the blast. The injured were rescued promptly.” Following the explosion, a “high alert” has been declared across Delhi. Security has also been tightened in Mumbai, Lucknow, and Ayodhya, especially around the Ram Temple complex.

The repercussions of the Red Fort blast have reached Kolkata as well. Lalbazar (Kolkata Police Headquarters) has issued an alert to all city police stations, urging extra vigilance. This comes ahead of the India vs. South Africa Test series, set to begin at Eden Gardens on November 14. The Indian team has already arrived in Kolkata, and the South African squad is expected to reach the city tonight.

According to sources, a three-tier security arrangement will be in place at Eden Gardens and surrounding areas during the match. CCTV surveillance will be strengthened, with bomb and dog squads deployed across key points. Strict frisking and baggage checks will be conducted at all entry gates.

Meanwhile, India’s coach Gautam Gambhir had planned to visit the Kalighat Temple on Tuesday, but that visit has been postponed due to the current situation. The Delhi blast has triggered widespread concern across the country. The Union Home Ministry has formed a special investigation team to uncover the cause and conspiracy behind the explosions. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm but alert.

  • Ranji Trophy 2025 : Bengal Puts Railways on the Back Foot, Eyeing 7 Points

Ranji Trophy 2025 : Bengal Puts Railways on the Back Foot, Eyeing 7 Points

Bengal is charging ahead in the Ranji Trophy 2025 with superb momentum. Thanks to the brilliant bowling of Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammad Kaif, and Rahul Prasad, Bengal’s bowlers have enforced a follow-on against Railways. The match is now almost entirely under Bengal’s control. With the final day ahead, both an innings victory or a 10-wicket win are possible, bringing the dream of 7 points closer to Sudip Kumar Gharami’s team.

    ৫ উইকেট! রেলকে লাইনচ্যুত করে ৭ পয়েন্ট ঘরে তুলতে মরিয়া বাংলা

Bengal had posted a massive 474 runs in their first innings. After captain Sudip Kumar Gharami (0) and debutant Aditya Purohit (6) failed, the team was in trouble at 61 for 4. The experienced Anustup Majumdar and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed steadied the innings, putting on a 134-run partnership. Shahbaz scored a fiery 86 off 106 balls before getting out, while Anustup played a brilliant 135. On the second day, Sumanta Gupta scored a century (120), and with contributions from Rahul Prasad (40) and Vishal Bhati (36) towards the end, Bengal built a mountain of runs.

Railways’ reply was comparatively weak. By the end of the second day, they were 97 for 5. On the third day, Varghav Merai and Upendra Yadav showed some resistance with a 200-run partnership, putting Bengal under some pressure. But once Upendra (70) was dismissed by Mohammad Kaif, Railways’ innings collapsed. From 203 for 5, they were all out for 222, with Varghav (91) falling to Rahul Prasad, who along with Kaif took 2 wickets each.

Trailing by 252 runs, Railways were forced to follow-on. In the second innings, they struggled from the start. By the end of the third day, they were 90 for 5, still trailing by 162 runs, with only Varghav (20*) and Upendra (12*) at the crease.

Bengal’s camp is brimming with confidence. An innings victory would secure 7 points, giving them a huge advantage in the race for the Ranji Trophy knockout stage. If Shahbaz and Kaif can wrap up Railways early on the final day morning, that possibility remains firmly intact.

Bengal is shining on the Ranji stage with renewed energy. The fire of Shahbaz and Kaif’s bowling spells, combined with the batting brilliance of Anustup and Sumanta, has firmly established Gharami’s team as one of the tournament’s strongest sides.
