  • IPL 2026: Even After Breaking Records, This Star’s Salary Cannot Exceed ₹18 Crore! New IPL Rule

IPL 2026: Even After Breaking Records, This Star’s Salary Cannot Exceed ₹18 Crore! New IPL Rule

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who is being targeted heavily by both Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings is expected to attract one of the highest bids in the IPL 2026 auction. However, according to a new rule, no overseas player can be bought for more than ₹18 crore.

In the 2023 IPL auction, KKR bought Mitchell Starc for a record ₹24.75 crore, while Pat Cummins was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹20.5 crore. At that time, Sam Curran’s ₹18.5 crore deal created relatively less buzz.

Cameron Green was bought by Mumbai Indians for ₹17.5 crore in 2023. The following year, he was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the same amount.
Across the 2023 and 2024 IPL seasons, Green played 29 matches, scoring 707 runs at a strike rate of 153.70.
For the 2026 auction, he has listed himself with the highest base price of ₹2 crore.

    New “Maximum Fee” Rule

Under the new rule, the maximum auction price for any overseas player cannot exceed ₹18 crore. If a franchise bids more than ₹18 crore, the extra amount will be deposited into the BCCI’s Player Welfare Fund, rather than going to the player.

This rule applies particularly to mini-auctions, so that foreign players cannot exploit supply-demand imbalances to earn excessively high amounts.

    An IPL source clarified:

“If the highest bid in a mega auction is ₹20 crore, then the maximum limit for the next mini-auction will be ₹18 crore.”

“If the highest bid in a mega auction is ₹16 crore, then the mini-auction limit will also be ₹16 crore.”

    Indian Players Not Affected

This rule does not apply to Indian players.
Indian players will receive the full auction amount, and the sum will be fully deducted from the franchise’s purse.

    Auction Details

A total of 77 slots will be filled this year, including 31 overseas slots. The list of 16 capped Indian players is still being processed based on franchise preferences.

The auction will be held on 16 December, where the combination of Cameron Green’s high demand and the new salary cap rule is expected to be one of the biggest talking points for IPL fans.

  • Assam Cricket Association Felicitates Uma Chetry for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Champion

Assam Cricket Association Felicitates Uma Chetry for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Champion

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) on Sunday honoured Uma Chetry, a member of India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025-winning team, in recognition of her remarkable achievement that has brought immense pride to both the nation and the state of Assam.

To celebrate her success, the ACA announced a cash award of ₹51 lakh for Uma, who created history by becoming the first woman cricketer from Assam — and the entire Northeast — to be part of a World Cup–winning Indian team.

The felicitation ceremony, held at the 91 Yards Club auditorium within the ACA Stadium premises, featured BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by ACA President Taranga Gogoi, Vice President Romen Dutta, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Anupam Deka, Apex Council member Mukuta Nanada Bhattacharya, and several other distinguished guests.

Various district cricket units and sports associations also felicitated Uma on the occasion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Devajit Saikia praised Uma’s inspiring journey, stating, “Uma’s achievement has not only made Assam proud but has also opened a new chapter for women’s cricket in the Northeast. Her journey from local grounds to the world stage is a story of determination, discipline, and dreams fulfilled. The BCCI is committed to strengthening women’s cricket across every region of India.”

He further congratulated the Assam Cricket Association for organising such a grand and meaningful tribute.

In his address, ACA President Taranga Gogoi said, “We are extremely proud of Uma’s historic achievement. She has etched her name in history as the first woman cricketer from Assam to win a World Cup. Her dedication and passion for the game reflect the immense potential within our region. The ACA is committed to nurturing and supporting such talented players who bring glory to our state and the nation.”

Sudip–Shakir’s brilliance takes Bengal to 336, yet worries remain!

In the third match of the Ranji Trophy 2025, Bengal lost their advantage due to rain after a strong start with the bat. Despite Sudip Gharami’s century and Shakir Habib Gandhi’s 95-run knock, Abhishek Porel’s team ended Day 2 in a tricky position at 336/9.

    সুদীপ-শাকিবের দাপটে ৩৩৬, তবুও চিন্তার ভাঁজ বাংলার!

Play was interrupted by bad light on the first day. Bengal resumed Day 2 from 171/1, with Shakir and Sudip steadily building the innings. Shakir, however, fell for 95, just five runs short of a well-deserved century. At the other end, Sudip remained composed, bringing up a fine 108 off 250 balls, studded with 15 boundaries.

But once Sudip departed, Bengal’s batting collapsed. Veteran Anustup Majumdar (6), skipper Abhishek Porel (11), and Sumanta Gupta (5) fell cheaply, leaving Bengal struggling at 262/6.

Shahbaz Ahmed and Rahul Prasad then steadied the innings, adding 61 runs for the seventh wicket. Rahul scored 35, while Shahbaz continued to fight alone as wickets tumbled at the other end — Kaif went for a duck, and Shami for just 5.

Rain forced an early end to play, leaving Bengal on 336/9. For Tripura, Rana Dutta claimed three wickets, while Bikramkumar Das and Manishankar Murasingh took two apiece. Abhijit Sarkar and Swapnil Singh shared the remaining two.

After such a promising start, the collapse has left Bengal’s dressing room tense. With rain still a threat, Tripura will aim to grab the last wicket quickly and make a solid start with the bat on Day 3. Meanwhile, Bengal will hope Shahbaz can add a few more crucial runs to their total.

  • BCCI Condemns Indore Incident, Vows Stronger Security

BCCI Condemns Indore Incident, Vows Stronger Security

New Delhi, October 25: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an official statement condemning the incident that occurred in Indore involving Australian cricketers. BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia described the episode as a “deeply regrettable and isolated incident,” stressing that India has always been recognized worldwide for its warmth, hospitality, and care towards guests.

    The Official Statement

    In his statement, Saikia said:

“This is a deeply regrettable and isolated incident. India has always been known for its warmth, hospitality, and care towards all guests. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards such acts. We appreciate the swift and effective action taken by the Madhya Pradesh Police in apprehending the accused. The law will take its due course to ensure justice is served. We will also review our existing safety protocols and strengthen them further, if necessary, to ensure such incidents are not repeated.”

The words underline BCCI’s strong stance on player safety and its intent to reinforce India’s reputation as a safe and welcoming sporting destination.

    India’s Reputation at Stake

India has long been considered one of the world’s most passionate cricketing nations and a leading host of international tournaments. Players from across the globe have often praised the country’s hospitality. This incident, therefore, has raised concerns over the safety of visiting teams and has the potential to affect India’s global sporting image if not addressed effectively.

    Swift Action by Police

The Madhya Pradesh Police acted promptly in apprehending the accused, a move that has been welcomed by both the BCCI and cricket fans. State authorities have assured that stringent measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of all foreign players and teams touring India.

    Reviewing Safety Protocols

The BCCI emphasized that player safety is of the highest priority. The board confirmed that it will be reviewing all existing safety protocols, identifying potential loopholes, and reinforcing security arrangements at stadiums, hotels, and public areas frequented by international teams.

Cricket analysts pointed out that India, as the host of major events like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and international bilateral series, must ensure top-notch security not only for Indian players but also for overseas cricketers who draw millions of fans to the sport.

    Reactions from Fans and Experts

News of the incident quickly went viral on social media, with fans expressing outrage and disappointment. Many argued that even a single isolated episode could tarnish India’s reputation in the cricketing world. Others appreciated the BCCI’s quick response and the police’s swift action, saying such steps would restore confidence among international players.

    Zero-Tolerance Policy

The BCCI’s reference to a zero-tolerance policy reflects its determination to prevent similar events. The statement also signals that, if necessary, additional resources will be allocated to boost security systems in coordination with local law enforcement agencies.

While the Indore incident is being seen as an unfortunate one-off, it has placed the spotlight firmly on the importance of player security during international tours. The BCCI’s strong condemnation, coupled with swift police action and assurances of tighter protocols, is expected to reassure not only the Australian team but also future visiting sides.

India, often hailed as the heart of world cricket, will be keen to ensure that such incidents remain isolated and do not overshadow the nation’s legacy of hospitality and sporting excellence.
